We Drove down from Oklahoma city under overcast grey skies. There were so many clouds and elevated storms that we really didn't think we would see anything. However once we got down to Snyder, Texas things really got going. The storm in this video produced a brief but strong tornado near the town of Patricia Texas. I don't normally chase as early as April but it certainly paid off this year.

Filmed with a Sony EX1 XDCAM HD camcorder.

Looks friggin amazing. Only thing I'd say is that the web addys on the top are real distracting. I think that this kind of footage more than most has the chance of getting ripped off so I don't blame ya for putting it there but would be a lot less distracting if you didn't have a drop shadow and set the transparency for the text at 50% or so. Just my humble opinion. Phenomenal footage though!!! =)

Glad you like the clip did you see this one?

    vimeo.com/963436

In future I will make the text less obtrusive, smaller and semi transparent. As you suggest my footage gets ripped off all the time, I've found many of my clips here on Vimeo being used without my permission and youtube is even worse. Even broadcasters don't seem to care where they get footage from anymore. Got to do something to try and protect my rights. It's neither cheap nor easy to get some of these shots.

    Thanks again for the comments.

Cool... I wished I had filmed the many tornados that a friend and I chased while attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock... unfortunately, we were all too worried about saving our asses...uh... I mean helping do research.

My friend was a grad. student studying these things... and, in those days the only way to get research data was to go and chase the tornados down and place recording equipment in front of their path...yep,... that's right... so the goal was to get in front of it's guesstimated path and drop off equipment and hope the tornado went over it (and, not us). Man... the close calls I can think of would be a nature film maker's dream/nightmare.

Now that I think about it... that was not real smart...for a bunch of educated kids.
