Filmed with Sony v1 and Letus extreme using my rollercam with an old guitzo head. Edited in Final cut pro in April 2008.

The music is ''Pilgrimage Of Lost Children'' From Duality by Lisa Gerrard & Pieter Bourke.

Outstanding! Can you explain your "rollercam"? I'm in the market for either a Indislider or something else that can get me these types of shots with minimal set up. You are getting some awesome dolly shots in some rugged areas, I'm wondering how you are doing it?
  • Pedro Miguel 2 years ago
    Hi Paul

The rollercam it´s just a skater dolly

Beautiful!! Looks like parts of California.

  • The movement adds so much to it. So what is this rollercam? I want it!
    I love the whole thing.
Sometimes your edit in-point is right before you started moving the camera - I think cutting in afterwards would give it a smoother feel alltogether.
    Well - it's smooth anyway.
  • Pedro Miguel 2 years ago
    Thanks

Yes i know, but sometimes i don't have more footage, or it isn't ''good'', so i have to start a litle before the movement

Here's the most affordable "rollercam" skater dolly I've found so far:
    omni-tracker.com/www.omni-tracker.com.html

There are plenty of DIY plans out there, but it seems like the grief wouldn't be worth the cost savings (unless you're really good at building things) tedramasola.9k.com/custom2.html

    Hi

yes there are plenty of DIY plans out there in the internet. But none of them are modular. That's the great thing about mine. I can use the 3 wheel with diferent sizes of ''bodies''. A small body like a skate or a big one to put my 501 tripod on it and it acts like a dolly

Thanks for the explanation, Pedro. Let's see it!

Well done! So the LEX really does wonders. What lenses were u using? Nikon 50mm, 85mm?
  • Pedro Miguel 2 years ago
yes i love the Lex, mostly i use the 50mm f1.4, but in a few shoots i use 24mm f2.8. I'm looking for a 85mm and maybe a 17-35mm, when i have the money i will have them...

The rollercam should be similar to this
  • Pedro Miguel 2 years ago
    No it´s more like this:

    tedramasola.9k.com/custom2.html

but the wheels are independent from the body

what do you use under the dolly to keep a smooth platform in such rugged locations?
  • Pedro Miguel 2 years ago

Pedro this footage is quite amazing! I just got a V1U with the Sony .8x lens a few days ago. I also use Final Cut Studio 2, would you please give me some info as to what settings/FPS you use in FCP and the V1U for import/export to get such good results???
  • Pedro Miguel 1 year ago
    hi Justin

i Captured in ProRes 422 (HQ) and to export, i follow the instrutions from Vimeo, but i feel that it could be better. Anyway, in a few days i'll be testing export setting from FCP to get better quality in Vimeo, and if i find a better solution i email you. Or if you find good settings please let me know.
Look at my other video ''letus with skate test'' which i feel has much better resolution in vimeo.
