Our newest member of the orchestra Matt Hardy discusses his first month with he SCO, moving to Scotland and life on tour.

Matt, originally from Bath, attended the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and graduated with a first class degree in 2010. He has worked regularly with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and Sinfonia Cymru. Aside from performing, Matt is a dedicated teacher and has worked with students at Wells Cathedral School and various primary schools in Wales running youth projects, and also tutored for the National Youth Wind Ensemble.

Matt was appointed Timpanist in March 2014 and commented: "I am absolutely delighted to have been offered a position within the SCO! Throughout my trial period I have been amazed with not only the quality of music making, but also the total commitment from all members. I cannot wait to begin my time as a permanent member of the Orchestra."
