“When I first saw the two old pubs near Burnley Central train station I couldn’t believe they were there, hidden away, boarded up and unused. In their dilapidated but beautiful state I began to think of them as human characters and wondered how they would feel, if they could, about the state they’re in. What if the Reindeer Hotel was a woman, what kind of woman would she be? What if The Adelphi was a man, what would he look like? Would the two have a relationship, ideas, dreams, fears and regrets?

Using factual information, my own experience of relationships and the look and atmosphere of the buildings I’ve created a film, a fictional love story between Reindeer and Adelphi. The story is built around an imaginary narrative between the two buildings and attempts to explore the hopes and fears of us as humans growing older and more invisible and also inspire a new view of the buildings.”
