Hawker Hunter T.7 XL592 Y - 1958-1984
This British Cold War Jet fighter, an advanced weapons trainer version of the Hunter, first flew on 30th August 1958. She entered service a month later with 229 OCU Squadron at RAF Chivenor.
When Chivenor closed in 1974, 229 moved to Brawdy and the OCU became the Tactical Weapons Unit (TWU).
She served with 1TWU until retired from flying service in 1984.
She was then stored at St Athan, before being moved to Scampton for ground training with the TMTS (Trade Management Training School) as 8836M.
After purchase by CJAC, she went into storage pending a restoration to flight that never happened. She was then moved on to Delta Jets at Kemble and use for spares.
With Delta's collapse she was dismantled and stored in a yard at Wycombe Air Park, Booker.
Now she has been reassembled and in open storage/static display at Wycomb Air Park.
I discovered and filmed her for the hour just after sunset, 25 May 2014.
