This is the video of our motorbike roadtrip from Hanoi to Sapa in northern Vietnam. We rode 680 km through some of the most beautiful sceneries of south east Asia. We lived with the inhabitants in traditionnal wooden houses and met the kindest people ever.

The film was shot with a Canon HV20 mostly in cinema mode.

Enjoy

You squashed the picture and so everyone is looking unnatural. Instead of squashing, you should be cropping, IMHO.

Thanks Eugenia, I actually chose the wrong format when exporting from Ulead. 1080 instead of 720.

I'm reuploading the video again once I get my 500mb back :) By the way it say today a 12pm CDT, when would that be in europe?

That's awesome, looked like a grand ole time. I'm about to go to Vietnam to film for a month, do you have any tips for shooting in there? I know it's coming close to the rainy season as well. Hows the lighting out there over all?

Hi, I was mainly in the north of Vietnam and it is mostly cloudy even on "nice" days so the light is not that great.

I realy recommend theses 5 day trips on motorbike, allows you to be pretty independant on where you go and what you want to film. Personnaly I had no previous biking experience.

Where are you planning to go exactly?

I'll be going from Hanoi down to Saigon. It's going to be a month long trip

You should stay a couple of days in Hoi An, 30km south of Danang, the place has magnificient beaches and the village is worth the visit.

beautiful photography, wished you had left more of the original sound on
  • v!Nc3sl4s 3 months ago
Thanks, I did remove most of the sound because most of the time there are parasite sounds, always someone around or just the sound of a motorbike engine.

    ive got a few questions:
-how many dv tapes did u bring?
    -and how many battery packs..
-and where did u charge the battery's?

im going to albanie soon and ive just got one battery pack... it probably would be wiser if i bought another one, right?
  • v!Nc3sl4s 2 months ago
    - I took 14 dv tapes for 3 weeks and used 11, two of them are hour long shots for timelaps.

    - I have two battery packs and it was enough, I could charge them every evening, even in the most remote places, you won't have any problems doing the same in Albania. Make sure you buy the more expensive canon packs, they last longer.
