DC-9-21 Part 3

This is the final part of a three-part STORY. Part 1 introduced the R/C model DC-9-21; Part 2 saw its maiden flight; and in this part you can see its second and third flights.

As noted in both Part 1 and Part 2, this EDF model aircraft is a real treat! It has been in development since the early 2000s and its builder, John Borgen of Copenhagen, Denmark, is a true detail artist when it comes to the intricacies of copying the real DC-9. (There are a number of DC-9 variants, each with an added dash and two-digit number. Other more modern versions are the MD-80 and B-717.)

This DC-9-21, in particular, is also a nice tribute to John's good friend, retired SAS Capt. Torben Sørensen, who logged around 12,000 hours in the DC-9; he retired over 6 years ago as the airline's most senior captain. In fact, the model depicted in the video, Rane Viking, was the last DC-9 in service with SAS and Torben was the PIC (Pilot-In-Command) who ferried it to one of the world's aircraft boneyards at Roswell, New Mexico.

Shown at the end of Part 3 you will see that this is not the model's last video installment; but there will be no Part 4.
