Psychosomatic' Trailer
This is the trailer for my feature film Psychosomatic. With music from talented musician Leah Kardos.
The film was made when I left university. I had been training to be an actor for a decade and I knew that nobody would hire anyone in the industry if I just turned up saying I'm an actor, I haven't been in anything but I asure you I'll do a good job. This probably would never happen. I have been watching films since I was young enough to be quiet when something was on the T.V. The world's best babysitter!
So I had written numerous scripts but lacked film-making experience. So with my last student loan I purchased a JVC mini-dv video camera and began work on a script.
Now I had to create a story around what was avaliable to me. I knew I had to get two people who were to stay in a house for some reason. So quietly contemplating this whilst looking out of my front window and outside my doorstep is a huge chemical plant. Bingo!
So work began and I had to rush a script that was 45 pages (not nearly enough) and set a date to shoot when my two leading actors were avaliable.
Getting everyone together in a room for a whole day without paying them is a very hard thing to do. But I stole hours here there and everywhere.
But I had a middle shot and ready for editing. So lots of hours and days and weeks thinking about how I can add something to this to make a complete film ensued. Then I stumbled on an idea.
Back to finishing the movie. Three years in total from the idea of the film to finished cut. Then I slept for a month!
This film was made completely by one person, everything from script to lights to caterer to tea boy to director to actor to camera operator to editor to money giver.
But a very good friend of mine has a profound knowledge of music, and agreed to do my soundtrack. He did a great job and I am in his debt for it! We are currently now both writing the new film which is almost complete!
Making this film was basically film school for me! And now we have been selected for Swansea film festival and recieved a nomination for Best Young Film Maker!
Hopefully all this hard work is going to be worth it!
