More friendly than the redrock wireless FF that was announced some weeks ago to be sold under $500?
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
Has anyone seen that fantom unit? There is a picture of it on their web site for a year now. Something very RED in this.

Like most things that come out for the new DSLR, its all to do with pricing..
For around $150 - $200, I would invest but for more thatn that I would stick to my hand..
It looks great, and that massive lens is silly.
I can only image pulling that out in London, you would be shot by the MI6 in approx 3 minutes.

  • I think the boys over at cinema 5d need to get there heads out of their rears... this is a great product thanks for sharing. looking forward to ordering.

  • Pier Laurenza 1 year ago
Interesting product, what about accuracy in repeated focus? I didn't see any mark on the knob
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
There are no markings, it works like a PS3 joystick controller, how strong you push the wheel forward or backward thats how fast motor spins the adjustable wheel. Canon L lenses were never ment for something like this and diameter of every lens is very different and "the feeling" too. It is a constant battle between you and your camera...
  •
  • Dani Croitor plus 1 year ago
    this will be good
  •
  • Evan C. King 1 year ago
It looks pretty good but it's too bad you can't use it with pre-existing follow focus gears. I'd rather just have geared operation then use the band. But still if the price is right people will compromise.
  •
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
It is targeted for DSLR market, I need to make a video that will show in real time how fast you can switch lenses and gears from operational 24mm to operational 85m or whatever. Remember this is v01. and in it's beta faze.
  •
  • James Bowman plus 1 year ago
Will it be possible to control 2 motors from a single unit? I'm thinking about a stereo rig with 2 DSLRs. And yes, I know it's probably a lot more trouble than it's worth. :)
  •
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
I think that could be arranged.
  •
  • Dani Croitor plus 1 year ago
when will be available for purchase?

  •
  • Rami Katzav 1 year ago
interesting - will it come with more than one rubber band ?
  •
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
It has 4 sizes in a box. I personaly use same one on my 50mm or 24mm while on steadicam, and a big one when using 600mm. It is very simple to change gear. (shown in this introductionary video).
  • Hepburn Creative plus 1 year ago
What Steadicam model are you using for your DSLR?
  •
  • Ryan de Wit 1 year ago
Were can I sent the money!?! :) Could it also be used with 2 motors AND 2 controlers on 1 lens? (1 for focus AND 1 for zoom...?) Then we can control everything!
  •
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
In that option you would have to use 2 controllers and 2 motors for dual control. It is possible.

Mark this thing is brilliant. If you think the price is ok, ok.

Personally for 2490,- € + VAT + Germany I'd rather buy another 5D Mark II and make the effort to dirt my toes.

    Nice, nice, nice job anyway!!!

Which steadicam was used in this video?
  •
  • Niels Rahbek 1 year ago
2500€ seems a bit steep for a servomotor with the feedback potentiometer mounted in an external box - but i guess that could be said about a lot of hdslr gear :) Never the less, i think i'm going to build my own, and i suspect quite a lot of people will try the same... But while we're at it, someone PLEASE tell me why Canon doesn't just make it possible to control the lens' own focus motor from the camera/externally - that would be down right amazing, and quite easy to implement!
  •
  • Eric Ferguson 1 year ago
This is an excellent-looking piece of gear, but the fact that there are no repeatable focus marks is a real downside, simply moving a focus motor back and forth definitely doesn't offer the kind of precision that is demanded by focus pullers.

It also seriously calls into question the price... we're talking about a low-RPM motor and a voltage control circuit on a knob, there are no stepper motors or digital electronics here.... it looks very well built, and yet terribly expensive for the technical complexity of the product. You could buy an entire DLSR body and several lenses for this price!
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
I know it is to expensive. I have two pcs for my own use on steadicam Pilot but I use it only in like 5-10% of cases, the wire messes my balance so if I have the luxury of light I tend to bring the f stop higher ...
  •
  • creative films plus 1 year ago
available in the US? I don't know much about German $$. :-)

Also, what is that little monitor on top of your camera? I like that too!
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
I think it was some Marshall or smt. like that ... HDMI 7"
  •
  •
  •
  • Would this device be able to operate my Zeiss lenses, which have a much stiffer focus ring than Canon lenses?
  • Marko Butrakovic plus 1 year ago
Motors are powerful enough to handle zeiss.

It looks like it's a great fit for some users & priced out of many other users. I'm desperately waiting for RedRock Micro to release their new follow focusv3 - they said end of summer!!!! But aren't saying anything else #arghhhh // price approximate $700'ish // google it / it's worth it!
