"CITY OF LAKES" The Official Trailer
There are so many ways to tell a story...
And so much a wedding symbolizes. So many questions it tends to raise: What is love? What is faith? It was our hope to explore these themes in a far more dramatically engaging way than we felt possible in a traditional documentary... Perhaps there is more within this story then meets the eye.
In the fall of 2009, Melissa & Samir embarked on an incredible journey to Udaipur, India, to fulfill a lifelong dream of having their wedding in the country of their ancestry. This transcendent place, affectionately called the "CITY OF LAKES," located in the breathtaking region of Rajasthan, would be the setting for their extravagant, three-day marriage celebration, and the backdrop of our unprecedented film production - shot entirely on-location. We believe this to be the first ever live event/scripted concept production 'hybrid' film ever produced on this scale. It was shot entirely on DSLRs, the Canon 5D Mark2 and 7D.
We hope you enjoy the trailer for "CITY OF LAKES" and look forward to sharing the film with you soon.

You have taken the "wedding video" to the extreme to say the least. Well well done.
What does a production like this involve ?, I'd imagine a crazy amount of planning.. Do you call "cut" ? So many questions..: )
Makes me want to get married just so I can hire your production company. Maui would be a nice addition to your portfolio !
k, gotta go watch it again...
Love and Aloha, iamKP-
Anyways, more later... : )
PS: do you guys rent jibs and dollies locally or crate the stuff around the world ?
Top of the line and no limits for all of you guys!
Truly Amazing!
what song is that? love it, love all :)
the font fit perfect.
such an amazing work
I'll be the first one to volunteer on the set when you'll decide to go with the feature
I think what lot of people overlooked were performances. I do think the older guy who the kid seek advice from is a TV actor in India but great direction on kids by Kevin. Wonderfull stuff
So Kevin, how many bollywood movies do you see?
I have grown up watching bollywood movies and I gotta give you a list of some of the best bollywood movies made throughout history with english subtitles. Some of these movies in terms of story telling, editing are at high par even to some hollywood movies. Too darn long to post it here
But honestly kevin, you have inspired me to do something grand (not to your level thoug) with few of my clients. I truly appreciate it. I will be lying if I didn't say I got goosebumps watching it everytime.
that was my jaw hitting the keyboard.
wow. whoever come up with this concept was either a genius or completely insane.
whichever it was, it's certainly paid off. this looks and feels for all intents and purposes, just like a big budget hollywood film shot on 35mm cameras.
if not for the smooth recognisable texture of DSLR footage, I would not have been able to tell it was shot on these tiny digitals.
Congrats to all involved. truly inspiring.
Where were yall when I got married....dang??!!!
Any chance of us being able to download the footage? I would love to see this beyond the extra Vimeo compression.
