A short film exploring the relationship between art and corporate advertising in public space:

"A man, trapped in the confines of a corporate poster, tries to escape and become part of the street art on the opposite wall. Although the street art is free, it is condemned and usually destroyed to make way for advertising, a risk he is willing to take to be with the stencilled girl on the other side."

    Wooooo!!!

    that looked fantastic!

(Next movie the street art has to win! ok??)

The story reminds me of "Tales of the Street Corner" by Tezuka Osamu. If you haven't seen that, then I recommend it!

Wow.. I can't figure how you did that effect where the guy jumps out of the poster to the wall on the other side.. Brillant !
  • LORCAN FINNEGAN 1 year ago
hey, thanks! I filmed black ink in a water tank, shot various rips of paper as stop motion, shot the actor jumping through a real giant tear and them mixed them all together.. it was the trickiest shot in the whole thing, if it didn't work the film would have been a bit shit, think it worked pretty well in the end though..

A nod to the famous Ah-ha video where the girls gets pulled into the 'comic book world.' This approach of course has a principle set to it.

thanks guys. the two walls facing each other are actually stills that I have composited layers of video onto, then "shot" with a virtual camera, adding bits of wobble and focus blurs etc. The only 3D effects in it is at the very end, where the footage was 3d so we could add loads of the posters to the walls as the camera pulls out. It was pretty much all after effects and compositing of keyed out layers etc

  • This is one of my favorite movies on vimeo, or anywhere else for that matter! I'm going to be mad if you guys don't enter a million film festivals with it and win every stinkin' one. lol.
