The 7th Annual Carlsbad Beach Fest is in the books! The 2014 Carlsbad Beach Fest made a concerted effort to get back to its root mission of clean beaches & oceans, stewardship, and public awareness and education.

A heavy emphasis was placed on the beach cleanup, the event was powered using solar power, and local seawater was used exclusively on the sand sculpture...rather than using expensive potable drinking water in a drought season.

There were numerous children's activities related to environmental and biological education, art, and dance. Legoland's Sea Life Aquarium hosted a live touch pool containing sea life. San Diego Zoo Global's Institute for Conservation Research taught about endangered species, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation hosted live iguanas, and the City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Department and the Wyland Foundation hosted numerous art activities for children.

Many have said the 2014 Carlsbad Beach Fest was the best beach fest yet! They may be least until next year!
