Freeborn brought his longboard over to Mammoth today, the first nice day of the year. It didn't take much convincing to get us out and bomb Goat Hill a few times.

Color Grade - Done in AE and FCP:

Start with reducing the contrast and upping the saturation, but not too much. The key is reducing the contrast. You don't want solid black blacks or super white whites. And most of the time, i'll jump up the exposure too, depends on the shot. Then I'll create a solid white circle about the height of the frame, with extreme edge feather, to be my center fill light. Drop the opacity down and select Blending mode - Overlay. This combined with an equally powerful vignette gives it a vintage feel.

Then it gets more complicated. Put an RGB curves layer on top of everything else with:
Darks - more blue and less red
Mids - all back to normal
Lights - more green and red, less blue

Then put a light sepia layer at 50% on top of everything to desaturate the colors. This really warms up the lights. And lastly I used a solid magenta color layer, dropped the opacity to 10% and chose blending mode - screen, color dodge or add, they all will work. But this magenta layer gives the darks that purple feel.

    Hope this helps...
