wow ... that show how important great lenses are for getting great filmic look (isn't it?) ... and its not just the shallow DOF i'm talking about.

really nice shots, great framing, well edited, nice color grade ... good work guys!

Philip, this is really changing the game for me... I am really wanting to get into this PL Hotrod rig and one of these cams... thx for being accessible and helping (considerably) to drive the "movement" on DLSR filmmaking.

Philip, you knocked this one out of the park! THIS IS IT! Just watched it in 1080P on my big LCD panel, using the WDTV little box and a mini250Gb hd (great thing for $100 - lets you watch you stuff quickly, even from a thumbdrive!) - But this is it! Goodbye RED, one day I may own your Scarlet, but that will have to wait about 5-6 years! This 5D /7D with PL mount and a decent glass rental (or $4250 for RED 50mm) BLOWS AWAY anything else close to the price!

Gorgeous cinematography! My only critique is that although 3 minutes isn't that long but for it being online I got a little inpatient and thought it was going to be 6 minutes of montage. First play, I skipped through it and found there were words so I restarted and watched again. I can't complain because its beautiful, great work!

A lovely sensitively made film I think, really enjoying your experiments with some high end glass - no mention of who wrote the music though? I think it adds a huge amount and it would be great to know who composed it?

    Great stuff.

  • You're the reason I bought a 7D. And every time I watch one of your films I smile knowing I own one. Thanks Phillip for showing me the light...

Call me crazy, but I'm shooting my feature on two of these as opposed to the RED. Saving the money for better props, wardrobe, effect, gear etc...

The only Aliasing I saw was on the last shots with the running of the horses in slow motion, probably due to the 720p. The rest was flawless and beautiful. Congrats on another great one!

Most of all Philip, I love the simplicity!

P.S. Notice the Trainers hat? Prov 21:31 - "The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD!" Epic!

  • Well, inspiring work as always! Thanks for sharing with us! Just a question: how did you make the final slow motion? Imho with 7d you can barely do a 50% slowdown, it seem so slow more than 30 or 25% of normal speed!!
  •
  • Absolutely stunning, Phillip. Beautifully done.
