On a daily basis we need to select teaching content and approaches that will stimulate our children through creating contexts that are meaningful and appropriate. This requires a level of knowledge that extends beyond content, to pedagogy and learning styles. As early childhood educators, we can also benefit from an understanding of how the foundational ideas in mathematics form the basis for key mathematical concepts that are developed throughout a child’s school.<br> In this webinar, Tracey will be discussing the incorporation of mathematical opportunities into our early childhood practices and considering the influence of different forms of teacher knowledge on enacting these opportunities.</p></p><p><strong>Cast:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/aamtinc">AAMT Inc.</a></p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:Early+Years">Early Years</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:Mathematics">Mathematics</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:Connect+with+Maths">Connect with Maths</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:AAMT">AAMT</a> and <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:early+childhood">early childhood</a></p>tag:vimeo,2014-10-12:clip108742147Creating Mathematical Opportunities in the Early YearsMake it Count: Maths and Indigenous LearnersSun, 12 Oct 2014 08:22:50 -0400http://vimeo.com/108702985AAMT Inc.<p><a href="http://vimeo.com/108702985"><img src="http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/492468518_200x150.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p><p class="first">Make it Count: Maths and Indigenous Learners presented by Caty Morris<br> Make It Count is for educators working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners in mathematics education. Matt is always looking to incorporate rich Maths tasks that are easy for students to make a start on the problem, but once students are engaged in the problem, they are exposed to the deeper, richer Mathematics lurking beneath the surface, hence Matt's use of the 'iceberg' metaphor. </p> <p>Make it count with Indigenous Learners<br> <a href="http://connectwith.indigenous.aamt.edu.au" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">connectwith.indigenous.aamt.edu.au</a></p> <p>Early Years Learning in Mathematics<br> <a href="http://connectwith.earlyyears.aamt.edu.au" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">connectwith.earlyyears.aamt.edu.au</a></p> <p>Connect with Maths ~ supporting teachers of Mathematics ONLINE</p></p><p><strong>Cast:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/aamtinc">AAMT Inc.</a></p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:mathematics">mathematics</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:maths">maths</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:Connect+with+Maths">Connect with Maths</a> and <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:Indigenous">Indigenous</a></p>tag:vimeo,2013-11-13:clip79274707Connect with Maths - Beyond the Tip of the Iceberg MathematicsConnect with Maths - Teacher Showcase -YiyiliTue, 12 Nov 2013 16:55:50 -0500http://vimeo.com/79241812AAMT Inc.<p><a href="http://vimeo.com/79241812"><img src="http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/454881696_200x150.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p><p class="first">Connect with Maths Make it count with Indigenous learners community presents Teacher Showcase: “Two-way Teaching Approach Kriol and Standard Australian English”. Yiyili Aboriginal Community School is in remote northern Western Australia. Students at Yiyili School also learn their tradition language: Gooniyandi. <br> AEWs and teachers work together to identify and code-switch between Kriol and SAE maths language at every opportunity. They have found this to be a very effective way of transitioning between using home language and SAE. The two-way approach empowers students to articulate their mathematical thinking and this has increased engagement and improvement across the school.<br> This showcase is the work of Corrie Baxter, the Numeracy Curriculum Leader, and Elizabeth Gilligan, an Aboriginal Education Worker at Yiyili Aboriginal Community School in the Kimberley. <br> Read more at Connect with Maths Make it count with Indigenous learners community Teacher Showcase: <a href="http://connectwith.indigenous.aamt.edu.au/page/teacher-showcase" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">connectwith.indigenous.aamt.edu.au/page/teacher-showcase</a></p></p><p><strong>Cast:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/aamtinc">AAMT Inc.</a></p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:Aboriginal">Aboriginal</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:Indigenous">Indigenous</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:numeracy">numeracy</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:mathematics">mathematics</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:maths">maths</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:mathematical+thinking">mathematical thinking</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:two-way+teaching">two-way teaching</a>, <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:kriol">kriol</a> and <a href="http://vimeo.com/tag:gooniyandi">gooniyandi</a></p>tag:vimeo,2013-11-12:clip79241812Connect with Maths - Teacher Showcase -YiyiliPrinciples of Counting-5 years-Louise HodgsonMon, 04 Nov 2013 20:12:24 -0500http://vimeo.com/78589823AAMT Inc.<p><a href="http://vimeo.com/78589823"><img src="http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/454057138_200x150.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p><p class="first"></p></p><p><strong>Cast:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/aamtinc">AAMT Inc.</a></p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> </p>tag:vimeo,2013-11-04:clip78589823Principles of Counting-5 years-Louise HodgsonPrinciples of Counting-5 years-Louise HodgsonMon, 04 Nov 2013 04:55:52 -0500http://vimeo.com/78517206AAMT Inc.<p><a href="http://vimeo.com/78517206"><img src="http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/453991892_200x150.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p><p class="first"></p></p><p><strong>Cast:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/aamtinc">AAMT Inc.</a></p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> </p>tag:vimeo,2013-11-04:clip78517206Principles of Counting-5 years-Louise HodgsonConnectWithMathsWed, 30 Oct 2013 01:54:08 -0400http://vimeo.com/78138210AAMT Inc.<p><a href="http://vimeo.com/78138210"><img src="http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/453484056_200x150.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p><p class="first"></p></p><p><strong>Cast:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/aamtinc">AAMT Inc.</a></p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> </p>tag:vimeo,2013-10-30:clip78138210ConnectWithMathsAAMT 12 SEPTEMBER 2013 1530Tue, 17 Sep 2013 20:12:18 -0400http://vimeo.com/74776973AAMT Inc.<p><a href="http://vimeo.com/74776973"><img src="http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/449222714_200x150.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p><p class="first"></p></p><p><strong>Cast:</strong> <a href="http://vimeo.com/aamtinc">AAMT Inc.</a></p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> </p>tag:vimeo,2013-09-17:clip74776973AAMT 12 SEPTEMBER 2013 1530
