Aaron Kodz is proud to announce that his Van Cliburn spot "Reach" was just selected as the winner of the New Talent category at this year's 2013 Ciclope International Advertising Craft Festival!
Aaron Kodz is a director of emotional, narrative, cinematically stylish commercials, branded content, music videos, and other short form content that feature strong performances. Among his list of clients are Reebok, Foot Locker Europe, Black Hole Recordings, and QScend Technologies.
His spot for the Van Cliburn Foundation, “Reach”, was shortlisted for the Young Director’s Award at this year’s Cannes Lions Festival. The PSA also received two top Telly awards – one for Non-Profit Ad, the other for Use of Music, along with a second place prize for cinematography.
Before transitioning to director, Aaron served as a director of photography for many years. Always looking for stories and situations that presented challenges, he used his time as a DoP to hone his distinct visual style that communicates emotion, story, and character through each frame. As a director, having a very specific, detailed, and well explained vision allows him to utilize his time on set to work with his actors and bring emotion to the narrative.
His love of commercials started in high school, when he began making small commercials with his father's camcorder – such simple times. When he's not behind the camera, he can be found cruising behind the wheel of his beloved Saab.
