The driving force for scientific progress in the St. Louis community since 1856, the Academy of Science – St. Louis is the oldest science academy west of the Allegheny Mountains. The Academy has played roles in establishing the Missouri Botanical Garden, the St. Louis Science Center and the Junior Academy of Science.
Today, the Academy fulfills its mission to advance the public understanding of science and foster sustained student interest in the sciences by connecting science and the public through free and low-cost public seminars, workshops and lectures, Scientists in the Classroom, Academy Fellows, the Greater St. Louis Science Fair, the Junior Science Academy, and recognition of science and technology professionals in the St. Louis region and surrounding counties, including the metro East.
Academy of Science of St. Louis is an independent science organization supported entirely through community contributions. The Academy of Science has connected science and the public for more than 150 years.
