Ace Porter is a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry. At a young age, Johnny Barnes, emcee, rapper, and writer, had a talent for music that he couldn’t resist. After having to overcome the adversity of living in some of the roughest neighborhoods in Philadelphia, Johnny Barnes quickly saw Ace Porter as his ticket to unprecedented success.
Ace’s passion for music drove him to control every aspect of his sound, especially his song lyrics. Not a day goes by without him having to write verse’s in his iPhone, computer or notebook. His lyrical style and flow became widely recognized when he released is first mix tape titled Respect My Hustle. When Ace’s plays on MySpace reached 10.8 million, he not only solidified a fan base, but it put his name in the mouths of the right people.
His manager/business partner, Robert J. Wheeler, began to build his brand under their company, Bout Bread Entertainment. Now, at the age of 21, Ace Porter has opened for artists like Cypress Hill at the well known TLA on South St., performed in venues and shows throughout Philadelphia, and has spent some time modeling.
Just Getting Started, Ace’s Second self-written mix tape, is an eclectic mix of hip hop, club bangers, rock, rap ballads and covers that has hundreds of downloads by the day. When Ace isn’t spending countless hours in the studio, or writing lyrics for other artists, he can be found skating, editing videos and writing movie scripts. Music is Ace’s life, he says, "I bleed for 808's and my heart beats the tempo and my thoughts turn all my dreams to reality" .
