"Everyone here has to have their 'crazy thing'," explained Keith Mazerak, a regular contestant in the annual "Stella Shouting" contest. And it seems to be quite true: in New Orleans a person is not judged by size of their wallet or the price of their car, a person's "crazy thing" is what creates reputation and following here.

With that in mind, it is relatively easy to find enough subject matter to fill dozens of feature-length documentaries. The only real limitation is in finding the time to film and edit all of the fascinating people, places, and events, and to find proper context in which to place it all.

For a filmmaker, New Orleans is certainly a bounty of riches.
