Taking his form of art from the streets to public exhibitions, Mohammed Ali brings a positive twist to the oft-used term, ‘clash of civilisations’. He takes his techniques from the urban art of graffiti and weaves it together with the grace and eloquence of Islamic calligraphy.
Mohammed has been involved with the arts from a young age, and was inspired by the New York graffiti movement from the early eighties. However, it was his through his early twenties that his rediscovery of Islam led to the fusion of graffiti with calligraphy.
His work has been broadcast in international media, from CNN to Al Jazeera and is recognised as one of the leading muslim artists.
