Paulina V. Ahlstrom
Paulina V. Ahlstrom is a New York-based filmmaker who has worked professionally in the field for the past 10 years. Starting out as a set designer and working mainly with artists throughout her early years on films and photography projects, she has since moved on to become a producer and director of numerous independent short films. Her first feature-length production, directed by the artist Lawrence Weiner, made its debut at the Seoul International Film Festival, and has gone on to screen at multiple festivals worldwide, including Berlin IFF, and most recently at Art Basel 42.
In 2011 she joined the team at PBS-funded Art21 in pre-production and as an editor on the debut series “New York Close Up” which documents the lives of young artists in the first decade of their careers. She holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in directing and has studied additionally at Yale University, Columbia University, University of La Serena in Chile, and University of the Arts in Berlin. Her work has been screened at Anthology Film Archives, Hamburg IFF, Morelia IFF, and Locarno IFF. She is currently in pre-production for her first feature, to be shot in Detroit, MI in Fall 2011.
