Akima commented on HTML5 player for Firefox 5 in the Forums According to this blog post [ http://blog.chromium.org/2011/01/html-video-codec-support-in-chrome.html ], Chrome will be dropping h.264 support in the future and concentrating on supporting webm and other formats that have liberal licensing.

Both Opera and Firefox support webm but not h.264. Chrome supports both formats but is eventually going to drop h.264 support (source: http://blog.chromium.org/2011/01/html-video-codec-support-in-chrome.html ).
