As the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's most-visited memorial on the Western Front, the Menin Gate in the Belgium town of Ieper is a hugely important structure.
It pays tribute to The Missing - those soldiers whose bodies were never recovered. Almost 55,000 names are inscribed on this imposing memorial.
The care and maintenance of the Menin Gate is an important job for the staff of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, who have, in the past fortnight, been cleaning the memorial.
