Mohammad Shirkhodaei
Mohammad Shirkhodaei, târ and clarinet player, born in Tehran, 1926.
At age of 15 he entered in Tehran Music Academy, and there, on Ali Naghi Vaziri and Ruhollah Khaleghi's advice, he started to study târ.
He performed as a solist on Tehran Radio (created in 1940) at the age of 19 ; then he became a member of famous R. Khaleghi's Academic Orchestra.
During first "Golhâ" (Golhâ-ye djâvidân) performances on radio, director Davood Pirniâ asked him to play clarinet ; Shirkhodayi's beginning's on this instrument were so amazing that he then specialized on clarinet.
He recorded with the most famous musicians in his time, from Gholam Hossein Banan to Hossein Tehrani through Abolhassan Saba.
His works along with those of Hosseinali Vaziritabar contribute to the creation of a radif for clarinet.
He worked all his life as an expert for different regional Music Academies in Iran.
