I composed the music for this Vancouver Film School short.
Here is a more in-depth description of the individual music selections:
Track #1 - (Intro & Score)
This music is for the introduction scene to a short movie called Bart. The introduction music continues on to score the scenes. Bart is a movie about a servant-robot who becomes self-aware, afraid, and attempts to kill his own master in order to survive. The introduction music sounds a little bit sci-fi, creepy, and silly all at once. In this scene, Bart is going about his daily chores but as he is mowing the grass, he mistakenly mows over top his master’s small dog. This event is illustrated by the dissonant piano chords.
Track #2 - Bart Realization (Score)
This music is for the scene in Bart where he realizes he is a conscious being. At first, he tries to operate the body of a dead robot he finds hidden in the basement. Later on, he is looking in the mirror, touching his face, and coming to terms with his situation.
Track #3 - Bart Something New (Score)
This music is for the scene in Bart where the main character (a robot) performs his first feat of individual thinking: he accepts and opens a package meant for his master. The new package appears to be a new robot.
Track #4 - Bart (Outro)
This music is for the final scene in Bart where the owner of the now decommissioned robot looks out from his house at his new robot mowing the lawn. This scene leads up to the end credits.
Track #5 - Bart (End Credits)
This music is for the end credits of Bart. It was meant to sound very digital to match the computer-monitor-like visuals, yet also retain the former darkness of the previous orchestral music.
