If the Ivy League were going to create a town it would probably be a lot like Los Alamos. It's a pretty intimidating place since the middle schoolers there are smarter than I am. Seriously.
I worked with a 6th grader to create a podcast on the ways technology is viewed and used in Los Alamos. But because Los Alamos is sort of an anomaly in New Mexico (I was told it's the most affluent county with the highest-performing schools in the whole state) we decided to include a rural village called Chimayo as part of our investigation. A 12-year-old and a student of NPR working together to create a podcast in a short period of time (largely by sending mp3 files and comments back and forth for weeks on end) was quite an undertaking. Sometimes thrilling, sometimes hilarious, and sometimes maddening. But definitely rewarding.
