The first in a series of three discussions by artists, writers and curators working with contemporary photography, devised by Photoworks and the University of Brighton. This series focused on the nature and use of objects within the representational space of the photographic image.
Over the past fifteen years, Ori Gersht has worked with photography and film to explore history and metaphor, and journeys in which the nature of place and geography is intertwined with the idea of metaphysical space. In his work Gersht pushes the camera to the limits of what it can record, and consistently tests the stable, material basis of the photograph.
