Another experiment in low-tech video synthesis.
I connected two very bright LEDs (red and blue) to an oscillator made with a 555 timer. That's just fancy speak for blinking LEDs. They were wired in such a way that I could change how fast they were blinking by turning a knob.
Then I put those two lights in front of my webcam, actually touching the lens. And played around with the focus until it looked good.
Finally, I applied some effects to the video stream using Resolume.
This video is me performing live with this device. I am quite happy with the results, considering the simplicity of the design. Sorry about the poor quality, but you get the idea. Now go and try it yourself!
