Andy Houston is an associate professor of Drama in the Faculty of Arts, University of Waterloo. He is an artist-researcher focused on site-specific performance to critically engage with social and political issues. He also interrogates notions of 'place' by experimenting with the interface between digital and live events. Dr. Houston contends that performances located outside conventional theatre spaces pose important questions about participation, the gaze, private versus public acts, and the various rituals embedded in different environments.
