Taken on the night of 26/27 Dec 2011 AWST 70 km north of Esperance looking SSE -> SE. The sequence starts around 10.28 pm and ends at 3.17 am, tracking the milky way and comet in azimuth only. The tail can be traced over more than 30 degrees of length.

A couple of notable things.

Airglow (green and red) was strong and variable throughout the night.

In the latter half, once the head rises, it is possible to see the movement of the comet against the stars.
