Three incumbents face off against an adult student challenger from Indonesia. Ms . Espinosa filed her candidate papers minutes before the close of the filing period, necessitating an election for what otherwise would have been an costless reinstallation of incumbents.
This is the record of the LWV Forum for Foothill De Anza Board Candidates as recorded Sept. 30 at the Los Altos Library. There were technical problems. There is audio for the full event timed with slides for the first 12 minutes. However actual video with audio starts at 12:00 minutes. One of the microphones was not working. Audio is only fair.
VOTE FOR 3 OF THE FOUR. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE IN THIS ELECTION.
0:00 Open Remarks, Ellen Wheeler, Jeannie Conner
Q1. Where do you stand on Prop 30 and Prop 38. What happens if both propositions pass and one gets more votes than the other?
Q2. I understand that some 1700 students were turned away from attending Foothill DeAnza in fall 2011 because they couldn’t get even one course…What could be done to change that?
Q 3. How will you prioritize cuts if needed? On the flip side of that, how will you prioritize program growth if funds increase?
Q4. How important are private donations to Foothil DeAnza College District? If you could name one or more untapped resources that you pursue if reelected?
Q5. The Kirsch Center which was built in 2005 was a platinum LEED certified building. In what ways would you like to see the Foothill DeAnza District embrace a more sustainable future?
Q.6 Building community relationships and increasing public awareness of the mission and goals of Foothill DeAnza College District is a critical component to its success. Most of you are incumbents. And you are a challenger. Can you share with us what you would do to promote stronger community support of the colleges and what you plan to do if elected or reelected?
