A satellite event to the Elektra digital arts festival, Elektra_Lab introduces a new theme every year related to technology, science and art and invites major luminaries to share their knowledge, projects and research. For its third edition Elektra_Lab will spend eight hours exploring the theme of the augmented body with The Floating Head, a new installation from STELARC and NXI GESTATIO [Nicolas Reeves . David St-Onge].

A major premiere, The Floating Head is an installation that stages a flying cube (aerobot) from the [VOILES | SAILS] project on which parts of Stelarc’s face are projected. Using a system of external cameras and microphones, this part-poet, part-philosopher intelligence is capable of recognizing the movements and reactions of visitors, as well as answering their questions and having conversations with them. For a curious audience that wants to interact with the human-machine or simple observe it.
