2008 Channel 4, Friday 4th January. 7:30pm

Dennis Hope was an unsuccessful ventriloquist before he hit on his big idea. In 1980 Dennis (who today styles himself as “The Big Cheese”) staked his claim to the Moon with the US Government, before writing to the UN and the USSR of his intent to start selling on 'his' extraterrestrial real estate. They didn’t respond so Dennis now claims that his is the only company with a legal right to sell this land.

Francis P Williams, a Cornish businessman, bought a plot of moon land off Dennis Hope as a joke, and then was offered the UK franchise.

In property mad Britain, Francis was onto a winner. He has now sold well over £6,000 000 pounds worth of moon.

This film is the story of some of those people.
