On Monday, March 18, 2013 a public discussion was held on the report, U.S. Health in International Perspective. This report examines the health disadvantage the United States has compared to other high-income countries -- its scope, its causes, and its potential solutions. The report makes recommendations about public health and social policy priorities, the need to alert the public, and research opportunities to better understand the causes. The event featured an overview of the report by the panel chair, Steven H. Woolf, professor of family medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University, followed by a discussion of the report's implications.
