In 2012, during a humanitarian intervention on an unprecedented scale, more than 900,000 children living in the Sahel were treated for severe malnutrition - a record for this region. MSF was part of this effort, treating 30,000 severely malnourished children in Niger, Chad, Mauritania and Burkina Faso via its regular programmes and emergency interventions. Everything points to 2013 being another difficult year for the children of the Sahel. The crisis here is unremitting, only its intensity varies from one year to the next.
