Congressman Phil Hare (IL District 17) and Congressman Bruce Braley (IA District 1) had a joint news conference in Moline IL on Friday March 27. The QC Rail Initiative hosted the event to celebrate the Quad Cities congressmen signing a letter to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood urging him to make the funding request for $22.7 million that will bring AmTrak service from Chicago to the Quad Cities.

After the remarks and open questions both congressmen were asked if they were familiar with HR1207, aka Audit the Federal Reserve Bill introduced by Congressman Ron Paul (TX 14th Dist) currently with bi-partisan support.

In addition both Hare and Braley were asked their thoughts on the possibility of the US currency moving into a global currency. This question was asked in light of recent statements by Treasury Secretary Geithner that have supported a global currency move (stated to the Council on Foreign Relations politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0309/Geithner_open_to_China_proposal.html?showall ) and at a recent congressional hearing when asked by Congresswoman Bachmann (MI __ Dist) where he switched his position to not supporting the US joining a global currency.
