Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, Alejandro grew up in North Carolina after moving to the US in 1985. A high school teacher reinforced his passion for still black and white photography and introduced him to the works of such photographers as Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Edward Weston.
After graduating from the Academy of Art_San Francisco, he began to work in Los Angeles as an assistant, focus puller, operator, and cinematographer. His collaboration with clients include Nike, Ford, Microsoft (2014 Super Bowl), eBay, ASUS, Disney, Warner Bros, Capitol Records, and Atlantic Records to name a few, and his work has been broadcast on BET, MTV Europe, MTV U, MTV Jams, Fuse, and in iTunes. He has shot music videos for such high profile artists as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Jane’s Addiction, Moby, 50Cent, Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, Ne-Yo, Marc Anthony, Lil Wayne, and LL Cool J. His work has also been featured in American Cinematographer Magazine.
Alejandro believes in the narrative form, and revealing the subtleties of the characters and stories through light, shadow, and the juxtaposition of the subject within the frame.
