Alette Simmons-Jimenez currently lives and works in Miami, Florida. The US born artist has lived in 22 homes in various countries; received a BFA from Newcomb College of Tulane University, New Orleans, LA; relocated after graduation, to the Dominican Republic, and developed her studio practice there for 18 years.

The artist has held 21 solo exhibits and participated in group shows internationally in venues such as: the Espacio Iniciarte, Seville; the Cervantes Institute, Paris; the Musee du Luxembourg, Paris; the Optica Festival in Gijon; the US State Dept. Art in Embassies Program, Tegucigalpa; the Chelsea Art Museum, New York; the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, New Media Lounge; the Mobile Museum of Art; the Museum of Modern Art, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; the Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, California; the National Association of Women Artists Gallery, New York; the Art Gallery/Inter-American Development Bank, Washington, D.C.; the Green Library Gallery, Florida International University, Miami; the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, West Palm Beach and at Texas A&M University. Her works have been presented Art Fairs including Scope Art Fair, Miami; Art Miami, Miami Beach; Arteamericas, Miami Beach; 
CIRCA, San Juan; and upcoming at Aqua Art, Miami.

Simmons-Jimenez is the recipient of numerous awards including: twice recognized from the State of Florida, Individual Artist Fellowships in painting; a Knight Foundation Arts Challenge Grant; First Place in Video at the National Biennial in Santo Domingo; the Xuráu Mozu Prize at Optica Festival, Spain; and First Place in Painting at the Mobile Museum of Art. She has served on important jury panels and has curated several exhibitions. The artist is Founder/Director of a renowned Miami artist’s collective, Artformz Alternative, presenter of the celebrated public art exhibit "Giants in the City" of which she is Co-Founder and Project Director.
