Alex Nowitz is a composer of vocal, instrumental and electroacoustic music. He writes concert music as well as music for opera, dance and theatre. Nowitz is also a voice artist, whistling and singing virtuoso who presents a wide array of extended techniques, and he is a countertenor who has studied the tenor voice in Germany and USA. Furthermore, supported by STEIM Amsterdam, he developed two gesture-sensitive, electronic instruments which he uses, during solo performances, as an extension for his voice: the Stimmflieger (with 2 Wii's) and the Strophonion.
