Allan Gorman
Allan Gorman is a painter of semi-abstract highway landscapes and big-rig trucks, who manages the dual role of also running an internationally recognized branding and advertising firm. Gorman's unique point of view and engaging style -- provides a nostalgic exploration (ala Hopper and Sheeler) of place, time and mystery applied to architecture and modern machines. Although he only started showing his work since 2009, Gorman is being exhibited widely and with increasing interest, with recent inclusions as part of the NJ Arts Annual -- a statewide survey of contemporary art at the NJ State Museum in Trenton; in a solo exhibition of more than 25 works at the BrassWorks space in Montclair; and he's currently hard at work in his home studio preparing new works for two more solo exhibits and a major three-person event at The Perkins Art Center in the coming year. Largely self-taught, Gorman took his first painting course with celebrated artist Power Booth (now Dean of Painting at University of Hartford) at NYC's School of Visual Arts in the mid-1980s. More recently, he's studied with artists Gary Godbee and David Kapp, and has been awarded a month's residency at the Vermont Studio Center in Jackson VT scheduled for March of 2011.
