I'm a filmmaker who loves food and deep human connection. I want to create films with a dash of whimsy, a sprinkle of quirk, and a dollop of magic. My works are influenced and inspired by aging, dreams, circuses, accordions, forbidden love, and perspective. So many stories to tell, so many people to meet, such little time!
...But, there's always time for a tea party! Right?
My freshmen year of high school I took a year long once a week night class at Carolina Film Institute (located in Greenville, SC) where I really began my journey as a filmmaker. I graduated from Interlochen Academy of the Arts (located in Michigan) where I majored in Motion Picture Arts, spending at least half my school day focused on film. During my senior year (2013-2014) I was named 1 of 7 Cinematic Arts Finalists in YoungArts, a national arts competition for high schoolers. They flew me out to Miami, FL for a week of masterclasses and shows. After that I was nominated and became 1 of 60 semi-finalists for presidential scholar in the arts. I have directed over 15 short films and music videos and have been screened all over the world. My film Hello from Malaysia was screened as a finalist at the White House this past year in the first ever White House Student Film Festival. My film Girly has won first place at two festivals (Mosaic Film Experience Film Fest in Grand Rapids, MI and The Lovett School High School Film Fest in Atlanta, GA). Additionally at The Lovett School High School Film Fest my film What Are You? won best U.S. Animation. My animated music video Warm Rush won 2nd place in the Experimental Category at the Josiah Media Festival in San Antonio, TX. At the end of 2013 I released my first music album "Confused Travels" under my music name of Miss Whimsy. It is available for purchase on iTunes.
