Roberto David Rusconi, born in a musicians family from Canton Ticino (Switzerland), is London based composer, researcher and professor graduated from Padua Conservatory in Composition, Piano, Choir Conducting and Electronic Music. While working in Italy he won several prizes in international competitions like the Valentino Bucchi and the 2 Agosto Prize. In 2001 he moved to UK and he is Founder Member and Shortlisted composer of Soundandmusic. Reading poetry and studying ancient myths, which often find a direct outcome in his poetical world, often inspires him.

His catalogue includes a wide number of chamber and ensemble works, that have been played by outstanding performers as Klangforum Wien, David Alberman, Rohan De Saram, Garth Knox and Burkard Weber, JACK Quartet, KAIROS Quartett, Amar Quartett, Ensemble Aventure, BIT20 and Insomnio. His works have been performed in Europe, Russia, South Korea, Canada and USA.

As a composer and educator he has worked on several EU Cultural and Educational Projects and produced a Unicef CD, Blue Gold, on the worldwide water shortage issue. In October 2009 the Malmo Symphony Orchestra performed Lo Sguardo di Ecate at ISCM World Music Days in Sweden. He has been awarded

the 2012 Experimentalstudio Freiburg Stipendien by SWR2. He has also been recipient of British Council Travel bursary, Akademie for Altemusic und Audio Art and Matrix 2009 and 2012 Stipendien, Bergen/Settimane musicali di Stresa, Aldeburgh and Dartington residencies.

In 2011 he won the first prize at the ZEITKlang Composition Competition in Wien with De Arte Respirandi performed by KAIROS Quartett Berlin. He was also awarded a third prize for his piece, Memento, by the Orchestra Nacional de Espagna, as part of BBVA Foundation Prize in Spain. Rusconi has been chosen to represent United Kingdom at ISCM World Music Days 2013 in Vienna by the Sound and Music British Panel and is a finalist at the ECPNM European Competition for Live Electronic Music Projects 2012. Recently, he received the second prize at the Pablo Casals Composition Competition with his piece Omnia Mutantur. His work De Arte Respirandi will be performed in 2013 at La Biennale di Venezia. He conducted the Tonkustler Orchestra performing his new work Mens Agitat Molem at the Grafenegg Festival in Austria. He is finalist at Isang Yun International Composition Prize 2013 with his work Zefran. After Rohan De Saram WP of his new cello work is working on many commission for the 2014/15 biennium.

Currently, Rusconi is working towards a PhD in Composition at Kings College London, supervised by George Benjamin.
