Andreas Dyrdal was born in 1979 (Bergen/Norway) and started contemporary dance-studies at age of 18. Between 2000-2004 he completed his professional training at Laban, London, where he was awarded the Simone Michelle Award for outstanding achievements in Choreography based on his choreographical portfolio during his studies. In the last year of his studies there he also performed extensively for the post-graduate dance company Transitions Dance Company in their 2003/2004 season.
As a performer/interpreter he has worked for a wide range of choreographers in a wide range of styles. This includes among others, works by Miguel Pereira, Victor Quijada, Sara Crow & Co., Willi Dorner, Igloo Performance Media, Né Barros, Joana Providencia and Joclécio Azevedo.
He’s also collaborated with digital artist Rudolfo Quintas and Tiago Diaonisis in the development and creation of “eDGe”; an interactive transdisciplinary work for the stage, as well as assisting Miguel Pereira as a rehearsal assistant in several creations after the year 2007.
After graduation he presented his first creation “this is where you end, and I begin” in professional context, in the festival Resolution!2005 at The Robin Howard Theatre in London. Having worked mainly in England and Portugal, he has presented and performed in a total of 6 smaller works for the stage and a handful of intervention, the last ones of the latter seen at Serralves Em Festa in 2007, "Dança Fora Das Horas" Teatro Aveirense in 2008 and "Estratégias para a Cultura em Lisboa" @ Palácio Galveias - Lisboa 2009. He has presented in Norway, England, Latvia, Spain and Portugal.
In 2008 Andreas Dyrdal was a recipient of the coveted DanceWebEurope scholarship, and in the event of working through performing arts, Andreas Dyrdal has slowly started working across other platforms of expression. This includes his photographical work that has been used for promotional purposes by various people.
