ANDRÉ VÁSÁRY is one of those few voices in the world who capable of singing Coloratura Soprano as a male singer. This unique voice is noted for his unusual ability to sing into the upper soprano register without using falsetto.
Hungary's only one male soprano has studied with the most respected Professors of Hungary, then he finalized his studies in Boston Conservatory, USA.
During the last decade he has been successful participant of many national and international competitions: won an Opera Competition in Miskolc Hungary; got into the final at the Concorso Internazionale Musica Sacra singing contest in Rome – millions could enjoy his performance through the Vatican Television. After this success Ioan Hollander invited him to Vienna Stattsoper. The world-widely acknowledged conductor, Maestro Ricardo Muti offered him roles in his summer festivals. André had several performances in Paris, Vienna and other cities of Europe and participated also in the Adoro Tour in Germany.
André perfected his singing technique and intonation at the greatest opera singers’ and professors’ master classes, as Éva Marton, Júlia Hamari, Magda Nádor, Johannes von Duisburg, Walter Moore, Nicholas Clapton and Antoine Palloc, to name but a few.
Thanks to his especially impressive vocal range and unique tone André has been a very sought-after and highly popular singer for years. His repertoire is ranging from Baroque to the classical opera arias, but the crossover style and the sophisticated pop melodies are also close to him. In 2009 he got the second prize at the Hungarian Got Talent Competition. Since then he has been frequent guest and performer of festivals, TV shows and other popular programs.
His performances are given in the most prestigious venues of the Hungarian musical life: Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in the Palace of Arts, Budapest Congress Centre, Hilton Budapest Ball Hall, to name but a few. André has already been invited as soloist to most of the main Hungarian symphony and chamber orchestras, under the baton of such excellent conductors as Ádám Medveczky or Tamás Vásáry.
His fans can also have the chance to see him in theatre-roles. Andre debuted in 2008 at Pesti Theatre, and the next year a new request arrived from the Hungarian National Theatre where in Friderich Schiller’s ‘Intrigue And Love’ the singer could show a new face of him. A symphony orchestra accompanied the singer’s parts during the play as the prose lyrics was turned into opera especially for him.
In 2011 within the framework of the European Volunteering Year he gave extraordinary, interactive singing lessons at dozens of high schools in the country.
Each of his CDs was warmly waited and accepted by his fans and also the professional musical public has highest regard to his outstanding talent. Thanks to this popularity André has three gold and one platinum records.
In 2011 he was nominated for the highest Hungarian musical acknowledgment, the Fonogram Hungarian Musical Award in the category of the Contemporary Classical Recording of the Year.
