The Arts University College at Bournemouth is a creative community where staff and students share a passion for and a commitment to the disciplines of arts, design and media.
The BA (Hons) Animation Production course emulates industry workflow to give the students the best possible preparation for a career in animation. Over the course of three years students are taken from the first basic animation exercises of the bouncing ball, flag waves and walk cycles in their first year to working as assistants on a graduate production in their second year. In Year three students get the opportunity to pitch a story idea and take part in the process of selecting what films go into full production. Third year students will then work as directors and lead team members on the graduation animations.
Academic units focusing on research and essay writing take place throughout the three years, giving students an in depth knowledge into the field of animation and informing their practice.
Drawing is at the heart of the course with all exercises beginning with pencil and paper and there is a strong focus on life drawing. However, lessons CG animation is also part of the curriculum from year one, as well as stop motion.
The result is a yearly batch of graduation animations of high production value using a variety of animation techniques.
We are always very proud of the achievements of our students and alumni, and we're sure that you can see why when you watch our graduation animations.
