Ann Xiao was born in Beijing, China. Since graduating from The University of Arts London in 2004, Ann has pursued a career as a freelance animation director and motion graphic designer in London. She has been working with several production companies and has directed a number of short films, music videos and commercials, whilst she's an active illustrator and curator for exhibitions.

Coming from a background as a trained architect and a published comic artist, Ann has developed a unique, surreal, strong, illustrative video style which leads to commissions from MTV, Channel 4, Toyota, Tiger Beer, Discovery Channel, Radar Music Videos, The Central Office of Information and so on.

Ann has been awarded by a number of honorable awards and her work has been presented in number of design magazines and film festivals such as IdN, Stash, OneDotZero, Edinburgh International Film Festivall and Rio International Short Film Festival. She has also won the "Best Art Style Animation" at Oriental Animation & Comic Competition in China.

Her style has been described as "architectural space meets surrealistic dreams".
