Every Friday, hundreds of devout Muslims from around the world pass through its gates for weekly prayers in a verdant setting. They are joined by a tight-knit community of 100 people who have lived within the mosque compound for generations. "Through the Gate" explores the life of the Jamia Mosque through the experiences of three people: Andy, a graduate student from Indonesia who found in the mosque a place to feel at home; Leila, a Tunisian who found solace in Islam after she moved to Hong Kong; and Mustafa, who was born and raised at the mosque by a Chinese mother and Pakistani father.
