On this day, the United States had officially surpassed the five year marker of the invasion of Iraq. Five years this war has been going on, five years. Over a million Iraqis have been killed. Close to four thousand American Troops have died. This is what I witnessed on that day and I share it with the global audience of the internet because the whole world is already watching. I don’t know what they showed on the news about this protest. I don’t know what clips they showed. I do know, however, what I saw. I was fresh out of the DC train station, with no sense of direction, when after a few blocks found myself staring at the capitol building. I had done some research about the events that were going to take place that day. My friend and I came around the side of the capitol building and caught sight of the reflection pool. On the far side, I could see a group of Patriots congregating. I knew they were patriots because the police couldn’t keep their eyes off them. The event organized was called The March of the Dead. Participates wore blank white masks to resemble to the dead; the lost lives of those killed in the War on Iraq. Their souls roamed the earth for one more day on March 19th. I saw the ghost of the dead rally with American Patriots and promoters of peace. People came under the banners of a lot of different groups: Anti-War groups, the Impeach Bush brigade, the 9/11 truth movement, etc. The informed public is starting to see all the connections between the War in Iraq, the War on Terror, 9/11, the North American Union, the falling economy – and not the Fox News version of reality. This was just one of the events of March 19th in Washington DC. Many more were held across the country. For everyone in the world out there watching, I offer this footage as testimony that change is happening in this country. The anti-war movement is growing. We are five years into this war now. An anti-war movement existed and protested the invasion of Iraq long before the first soldier was killed. There were some who believed the war was justified even two years into it. After five years though: after Abu Ghraib, after water boarding, after NO Weapons of Mass Destruction. After all this, the people are seeing through the cloud of lies and deceptions that are projected into the public consciousness by “unfair and unbalanced” televised news stations. The War in Iraq was launched under false pretext. This is a known fact. The people are growing tired of this imperialistic war for the world’s natural resources.
