Lamont

Artist and abolitionist, Lamont Hiebert, has been writing, recording and performing music under the band name Ten Shekel Shirt since 2001. His well-known songs include the #1 hit Ocean, Fragile, Spark, Meet With Me, Wartime Lullaby and Cheer Up.

Lamont is also the co-founder and U.S. Prevention Director for Love146 - an international organization working to abolish child sex slavery and exploitation. Many of his songs reflect his commitment to social action and to the restoration of survivors of abuse and exploitation. He has performed at social action events with the Dave Matthews Band, John Legend, Natasha Bedingfield and has been the musical guest of a wide variety of hosts including GQ Magazine, the NBA, International Justice Mission, Yale Sex Week, women's organizations, churches and bars. He is currently based in the Connecticut where he continues to pursue music and develop programs with Love146.

Over the years, many friends have collaborated with Lamont under the band name Ten Shekel Shirt including Jonny Rodgers, Austin Morrison, Tommy Lee, Colin Meyer, Jake Carey, Dave Benedetti and Tim Sway. The Ten Shekel Shirt discography includes Much, Risk and the most recent album Jubilee.

Random Facts:

- Lamont grew up in British Columbia, Canada, and is an avid ice hockey fan.
- After losing some of his toes in a lawnmower accident, his baby toe was sewed on upside down.
- Believed he was attacked by a vampire bat in Costa Rica in the middle of the night only to find out years later it wasn't true. After telling the bat story for a decade he experienced the same "attack" in the U.S. It turns out he had simply fallen asleep on his arm and rolled over causing his own "dead hand" to crawl on his face until he bravely fought it off. (Strangely, his hand felt exactly like that vampire bat in Costa Rica.)
- Is hoping for a re-make of "Brother Sun, Sister Moon."
