Ashok Sinha is based in New York and spent a decade as an entrepreneur followed by a career in corporate America before turning to photography.
A self-taught photographer with a keen eye for capturing images of disparate and remote cultures as well as their natural environments, Ashok has worked in over thirty countries on many freelance assignments and commissions. His dynamic background in business (he holds a MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business) and technology (Ashok is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of Engineering) has led him to turn a corner in his career where he is focusing on social entrepreneurial projects that use the power of photography and leverage the Internet as a platform to raise awareness about marginalized cultures and societies around the world.
Ashok’s work has appeared in numerous magazines and electronic publications such as NationalGeographic.com, Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel Magazine, Photo District News, Where Los Angeles, The Irish Times, The Travel Photographer, LIFE.com, Times Online UK, Art Etc. His work has won awards from Photo District News, Lucie Foundation, Association of Photographers UK, World Photographic Arts, and the BBC amongst others.
